The following are updates to stories previously reported here, and smaller recent FCC filings and actions that do not merit a full story of their own at this time:
Minnesota
DTV America’s KMBD-LD (Minneapolis) applied for a license to cover its construction permit to move to channel 20, indicating the station is on the air or ready to go on the air. Viewers report it is carrying Bounce TV. KMBD-LD had previously transmitted on channel 43 with 15kW but was forced to leave that channel due to the discontinuation of channels 38 and up. It transmits with 3kW from the IDS Center on its new channel.
Nebraska
The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska’s KWTN/100.9 (Allen) went off the air Sept. 21. The station has a pending application to change frequency and upgrade.
North Dakota
The FCC has quickly granted a previously-reported request from KRDK-TV/4.1 (Valley City-Fargo) for special temporary authority to use a Distributed Transmission System. The station broadcasts on RF channel 24 with 285kW from a tower near Galesburg and will add a 500-Watt transmitter, also on channel 24, in downtown Fargo.
Digital Networks-Midwest applied for licenses to cover for K35KD-D (Fargo), K28MS-D (Bismarck), K21GQ-D (Minot), and K28QQ-D (Williston). As previously reported here, the stations all converted from analog to digital. A license to cover application indicates that a station is on the air or will be soon.
South Dakota
The University of Northwestern-St. Paul’s K288GA (Sioux Falls) was granted a construction permit to move from 105.5 to 101.5. As previously reported, KNWC-FM was listed as the input station for the translator.
Digital Networks-Midwest applied for a license to cover for K23PM-D (Sioux Falls). As previously reported, K23PM-D is former analog station K56GF. A license to cover application indicates that a station is on the air or will be soon.
