Dozens of webcasts around the region have gone dead, as Real Networks has cut off service fo BroadcastAmerica.com. Nine stations in Duluth alone have lost their webcasts. (12/26/2K)

The unlicensed "Christmas Radio" at 87.9 in Minneapolis and 97.9 in St. Paul is on the air for the holiday. 107.5 Woodbury was also mentioned, though not received. (12/25/2K)

KRVY-FM/97.3 (Starbuck) is reported to be on the air playing Christmas music with the name "The River." (12/22/2K)

MINNESOTA:
BDI Broadcasting wants to upgrade KMSR/94.3 (Sauk Centre), which it is now in the process of buying. The proposal before the FCC would change KMSR's community of license to Alexandria and upgrade the station from 6kW to 25kW from a tower 9 kilometers northwest of Alexandria. Meanwhile, BDI also proposes that its KIKV/100.7 (Alexandria) change its community of license to Sauk Centre to replace KMSR as the only station licensed to the town. However, KIKV's transmitter site would apparently not change. (12/22/2K)

WISCONSIN:
National Minority TV is buying WWRS-TV/52 (Mayville) from Mayville Communications. The station is currently a TBN affiliate and serves the Milwaukee market. National Minority TV has close ties to TBN, so no changes are expected. (12/21/2K)

IOWA/NEBRASKA/WISCONSIN:
Construction permits have been granted for KFXA-DT/27 (Cedar Rapids), KLJB-DT/49 (Davenport), KTVG-DT/19 (Grand Island), and WHWC-DT/27 (Menomonie), WLEF-DT/47 (Park Falls), WHPN-DT/32 (Janesville). (12/21/2K)

KLLZ/1600 (Walker) is being purchased by E.P. De La Hunt, who has requested a call letter change to KAKK. KLLZ had always been co-owned with KLLZ-FM/99.1, which is being sold to BG Broadcasting, but the new KAKK will still have an FM counterpart: Carol De La Hunt owns KQKK/101.9 (Walker). De La Hunt and his associates also own several other stations in the region. (12/21/2K)

The FCC has denied two applications for translators in Fergus Falls, one from the Family Worship Center Church for 88.3 and another from the Educational Media Foundation for 88.9. (12/21/2K)

MINNESOTA:
The American Family Association is buying the construction permit for 250-Watt KQRB/89.9 (Windom) from Abundant Life Broadcasting. AFA already has a translator in Windom (250-Watt K215CD/90.9) and likely wants to preserve its space on the dial by getting a fully licensed station. (12/21/2K)

NEBRASKA:
Waitt Radio is buying KOTD/1020 (Plattsmouth). It's kind of a remarriage for KOTD and KCTY-FM/106.9, which were once co-owned but then split up when Waitt initially purchased the FM station but not the AM station. (12/21/2K)

NORTH DAKOTA:
Clear Channel is purchasing the construction permit for 200-Watt KCHY/104.7 (Hope). The permit has the potential to be upgraded to class C1 (100kW at 300m), which would give it a rimshot signal into Fargo. Clear Channel currently has six stations in the market. (12/21/2K)

NORTH DAKOTA:
Jimmy Swaggart's Family Worship Center Church has been granted another translator, K204EN/88.7 (Carrington). (12/21/2K)

NORTH DAKOTA:
Cumulus Media's purchase of KXMR/KBMR/KSSS (Bismarck), KAVG (Beulah), and KBKU (Hettinger) from Anderson Broadcasting apparently isn't going through, as Anderson has withdrawn applications filed with the FCC to assign the licenses to Cumulus. (12/21/2K)

SOUTH DAKOTA:
Rapid Broadcasting is buying KAUN/36, K42CC, and KBNW-LP/44 (Sioux Falls) from Midwest Broadcasting. Rapid also owns the NBC affiliate in Rapid City. (12/21/2K)

BBK Broadcasting is buying WMVM/98.7 (Mayville) from Mayville License Corporation. (12/21/2K)

SOUTH DAKOTA/WISCONSIN:
South Dakota and Wisconsin are among the states from which the FCC will accept applications fro Low Power FM stations between January 16 and 22, 2001. (12/21/2K)

WYZM/105.1 (Waunakee-Madison) has changed to WBZU to reflect its new `80s format called "The Buzz." (12/21/2K)

WISCONSIN:
In news that should have been reported 10 days ago, Milwaukee's WFMR and WJMR have traded frequencies. The formats and imaging have not changed, except that they are on different frequencies licensed to different communities. (12/21/2K)

Wisconsin Public TV translator W54AR (Fence) has received a construction permit to move to channel 45 as W45CD. (12/21/2K)

MINNESOTA:
Pat Kelly will be leaving his morning position at 96Lite FM (KDAL-FM/95.7 Duluth) to replace Eric Olson at KDLH/3 (CBS). Kelly has been associated with KDLH since 1980 and was the primary news anchor in the mid-1980s. In recent years, he's been the weekend weathercaster for KDLH in addition to his show at 96Lite. Olson is leaving KDLH to take a job as media director for Allete. (12/12/2K)

KFXN/690 (Minneapolis) has dropped programming from the Sports Fan Radio Network in favor of Fox Sports Radio, which also takes over morning drive in place of rebroadcasts of KFAN's Chad and Barrerio. Jim Rome and Dan Patrick remain on the lineup. (12/11/2K)

Moose Country 106.7 (WATQ Chetek-Eau Claire) has been known as "Chris-Moose 106" for the past few weeks, as the station has adopted an all-Christmas format again this year. The station's regular format is Classic Country. Country tunes make up a large part of WATQ's Christmas selection, but they are playing traditional songs as well. (12/11/2K)

KAOD/106.7 (Babbitt) has switched from a rebroadcast of 92.1 Kiss FM to KQ95 (both Duluth). KBAJ/105.5 (Deer River) was switched from Kiss to KQ a few months ago as well, while WXXZ/95.3 (Grand Marais) continues to rebroadcast Kiss. All are owned by Red River Broadcasting. (12/7/2K)
