Beaver Dam Station (Mostly) Drops Country for Pop

Good Karma Broadcasting’s WXRO/95.3 (Beaver Dam) has dropped all-Country for Hot Adult Contemporary as “95X.”

The format, positioned as “Today’s Best Music, includes a few Country songs per hour, some of which do not appear to be traditional Country crossover songs. “95X” launched launched on Friday, July 12.

In a statement posted on the station’s website, General Manager Ryan Gabel said he is excited to see WXRO “evolve and bring a fresh format to the community…that will attract a wide audience while playing everyone’s favorite artists and today’s best music.”

WXRO had been a Country station for 43 years.

Rick Armon, Sheri Sackett, and Thomas Rehfeldt will continue to host the station’s morning show. WXRO’s former daily 5 p.m Polka hour, “The Barn Show with Uncle Bill,” is moving over to sister station WBEV/1430.

WBEV carries a mix of News, Talk, and Oldies and will continue to carry the “Early Morning Farm Show,” which had previously been simulcast on both stations.

WXRO delivers the only city-grade FM signal to Beaver Dam, a city of about 16,000 people midway between Madison, Milwaukee, and Fond du Lac. It’s served by rimshot and fringe signals from numerous areas, including Country formats on WMBZ/92.5 (West Bend) and WPKR/99.5 (Omro-Oshkosh).
