Two Duluth Formats Make Planned Move (Updated with Audio)

After several weeks of promoting the impending change, Duluth’s “Sasquatch” and “Fan” formats have swapped dial positions.

The Classic Rock “Sasquatch” format is now on WWAX/92.1 (Hermantown-Duluth), giving it a stronger FM signal in its battle with Midwest Communications’ market-leading KQDS-FM/94.9 (Duluth). “Sasquatch” operator Townsquare Media has said it plans to buy WWAX from current owner Twin Ports Radio LLC.

Meanwhile, “The Fan” is now carried on the former “Sasquatch” signals, W293CT/106.5 and WEBC/560 (Duluth). WEBC had been the market’s original home of the Minneapolis-based Sports talk lineup from 2003 to 2007.

WEBC’s 5kW AM signal has a large regional footprint stretching from the Canadian border to the northern Twin Cities suburbs.

Both “Sasquatch” and “The Fan” will carry the Minnesota Vikings this fall, with Townsquare having taken the rights from KQDS-FM.
