FCC/CRTC Monitor: New FM On the Air in Western Minnesota

The following are updates to stories previously reported here, and smaller recent FCC filings that do not merit a full story of their own at this time:

Iowa

Radio By Grace filed modifications of license for K206ED/89.1 (Le Mars), K218EA/91.5 (Ottumwa), and K240DE/95.9 (Sioux City) to indicate that they are relaying programming from WZXX (Lawrenceburg, TN). WZXX carries a Christian format as “Freedom Radio FM.”


Minnesota

Lakeland Broadcasting was granted a license to cover for K266CM/101.1 (Sunburg), which was authorized during the AM revitalization filing window to relay KWLM/1340 (Willmar). KWLM also has a translator in Willmar.


Nebraska

Gray TV’s KOLN/10 (Lincoln) requested an extension of special temporary authority to remain silent following its January tower collapse. The station’s programming is temporarily being carried on another station in the area. KOLN requested an extension “while repair/reconstruction work continues.”


Ontario

The CRTC approved an extension of the construction deadline for CBRY-FM/92.5 (Nipigon) to Oct. 9, 2021. The United Christian Broadcasters Media Canada said it is still in the process of raising money to fund the project. The 50-Watt station will relay CJOA-FM (Thunder Bay).


Wisconsin

Radio By Grace filed a modification of license for W218CC/91.5 (Wausau) to indicate that it is relaying programming from WZXX (Lawrenceburg, TN). WZXX carries a Christian format as “Freedom Radio FM.”
