Several more stations have begun streaming their programming through PBS online platforms, with all Upper Midwest PBS stations now freely available online.
Twin Cities PBS (KTCA), PBS North (WDSE Duluth), and WNMU Public TV (Marquette) have joined the effort since its launch in September. Each station is available within its own market for free livestreaming PBS.org/livestream, on the PBS Roku app, and on the stations’ own websites.
It appears KSMQ/15 (Austin, MN) is the only regional PBS station that does not yet have a livestream, though Iowa PBS may be available in the market.
A FAQ page on the PBS website says some programming on the streams may differ from the over-the-air broadcast.
The only regional station not using the PBS platforms is PBS Wisconsin, which streams three channels through its own website. The PBS Wisconsin feeds are available anywhere in the state, even in several markets where the network does not have a station.
While many local commercial TV stations offer their programming through online platforms, the difference in the case of PBS is that no login or subscription is required.
Twin Cities PBS also offers a stream of its TPT Now subchannel of automated weather and breaking news through its website via Vimeo Livestream. The stream is not restricted to the Minneapolis market.
