Longtime Duluth TV news manager Steve Goodspeed is returning to the news director’s office, this time at Red River’s FOX 21 (KQDS-TV). Until 2019, Goodspeed was the news director at Hubbard ABC affiliate WDIO/10, leading the newsroom through a nearly three-decade era that culminated with the win of a national Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. Goodspeed started his career as a reporter at WDIO and later worked in Green Bay and Minneapolis before becoming WDIO’s ND in the early 1990s. At FOX 21 Goodspeed will succeed Dan Clouse, who is leaving for the ND job at Allen Media CBS affiliate KIMT/3.1 (Mason City-Rochester).
Jason DeRusha is trading WCCO’s. Weeks after announcing that he will leave the morning co-anchor chair at CBS owned-and-operated WCCO-TV (Minneapolis), Audacy’s WCCO/830 announced that DeRusha will be its new afternoon host. The 3-6 timeslot is currently anchored by Paul Douglas and Jordana Green; Douglas will leave daily hosting but will remain WCCO radio’s chief meteorologist while Green will join Adam Carter in late mornings. The 9-12 timeslot was vacated when Corey Hepola left to launch a campaign for governor, which has since ended. Green, Douglas, and new morning host Vineeta Sawkhar are also former TV news personalities.

Meanwhile, WCCO-TV/4 recently announced that A.J. Hilton will take over the morning co-anchor role after DeRusha departs at the end of the month. Hilton is a graduate of Apple Valley High School and the University of Minnesota who most recently worked in Nashville.

Angelica Duria recently left the morning co-anchor role at FOX 6 (WITI Milwaukee). The Journal Sentinel reports she has taken a job with the CIty of Milwaukee.
The Quad City Times reports that Angie Sharp has departed Tegna ABC affiliate WQAD/8.1 (Moline) after 13 years with the station, where she most recently anchored mornings. She has taken a job with the City of Bettendorf.
Stations
Radio Milwaukee (WYMS/88.9) has set June 19 as the launch date for its new Urban Alternative service, which will be called “HYFIN.” The service will be carried on HD2 and stream full-time, and will also be simulcast on WYMS’ main signal from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., with Tarik Moody hosting from 9 to midnight. Anthony Foster will host from Noon to 3 and Element Everest-Blanks will host from 3 to 9 p.m., with unhosted music at other times.
FTV Live noted that Gray NBC/FOX affiliate KFYR-TV/5.1 (Bismarck) has posted a job for a remote news reporter. The position will not require the reporter to live in North Dakota.
