Data Dump: iHeart, i3G Top North Dakota Radio Owners

In a Data Dump last summer on broadcast license totals by state, it was noted that North Dakota has the lowest number of broadcasting licenses in the Upper Midwest.

It follows, then, that the state also has fewer large radio group owners. There are only five groups that have ten or more radio licenses in North Dakota, and three of them are non-commercial.

As noted in the earlier Minnesota report, a lot of the radio licenses on the Minnesota side of the Red River Valley serve listeners in both states. The tally for North Dakota also includes Minnesota-licensed stations serving North Dakota markets, so there is some overlap.

A threshold of ten stations used for earlier reports on Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, but the number is lowered to eight for this count so that several large groups are included.
