Christian Programming Moves as Aberdeen-Area FM Signals are Sold

Christian Heritage Broadcasting’s Praise Live network is upgrading to a stronger signal in Aberdeen, with its old signal going to a commercial broadcaster.

Documents filed with the FCC indicate Christian Heritage Broadcasting is buying KEEA/90.1 (Aberdeen) from the American Family Association for $50,000. KEEA has carried American Family Radio and is AFR’s only station in South Dakota.

The 1kW KEEA has a larger coverage area that K253AB/98.5 (Aberdeen), which has relayed Christian Heritage’s KCGN-FM/101.5 (Ortonville, MN) for decades. K253AB transmits with 250 Watts from a tower east of Aberdeen.

A separate FCC filing indicates Prairie Winds Broadcasting is buying K253AB from Christian Heritage Broadcasting for $44,000.

The application to transfer the license indicates K253AB will switch to Prairie Winds’ KGIM/1420 (Aberdeen), and the buyer took over operations of K253AB on Aug. 10 through a local marketing agreement.

It’s not immediately known if the programming changes have taken place.

Prairie Winds’ Hub City Radio operates eight formats in Aberdeen that run on four full-power FM stations, three FM translators besides K253AB, and two AM signals.
