The FCC granted Vanguard Association of Sunbelt Colleges Corporation a construction permit for a new station on 88.3 in Rosendale. The CP calls for the new station to transmit with 24kW/68m (class C3) from a tower in Brandon, delivering a strong signal to Beaver Dam, Berlin, Fond du Lac, Mayville, Ripon, and Waupun. The FCC dismissed competing applications for new stations on 88.3 in Eden (Call Communications), 88.3 in Fond du Lac (Educational Media Foundation), 88.3 in Plymouth (Wis. Educational Communications Board), 88.3 in Waupun (competing applications from Waupun Baptist Church and WRVM), 88.5 in Cedar Grove (Salvation Poem Foundation), and 88.5 in Sheboygan (Immanuel Bible Church). Vanguard had been identified as the tentative selectee by the FCC last year because its station will provide the first city-grade non-commercial service to some areas and the group has no other stations.
VCY America flagship station WVCY-FM/107.7 (Milwaukee) notified the FCC that it is transmitting with reduced power of 11kW ERP due to problems with its main transmitter, which normally uses 43kW/161m.
Magnum Media’s WRDB/1400 (Reedsburg) requested an extension of special temporary authority to transmit with 75 Watts using a longwire antenna following a 2022 tower collapse. The station’s latest filing says concrete work for the new tower has been delayed because of the cold weather.
Cheq Bay Community Radio was granted the callsign WVCB-LP for its future low-power FM station on 97.7 in Ashland.
