“K-Hits” Brings Classic Hits to FM in Minot

Following its purchase of the former KHRT-FM/106.9 (Minot), RadioDifferently LLC has relaunched the station as “K-Hits 106” (KHTZ).

The station features a broad Classic Hits playlist from the late 1960s to the 1980s positioned as “freshly nostalgic.”

RadioDifferently is owned by Joe Goldade, a former TV meteorologist in the market. Meteorologist Tom Schrader hosts afternoons.

“K-Hits” has no direct musical competitor on the FM band, though the `80s selections compete with the gold on iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary outlet “Mix 99.9” (KMXA-FM Minot). iHeart’s KRRZ/1390 (Minot) has long carried a Classic Hits format.

KHTZ competes with iHeartMedia’s six-station group and Programmers Broadcasting’s two stations.

RadioDifferently bought KHRT-FM from Faith Broadcasting after station manager Roy Leavitt decided to end its longtime Christian format last year. The former KHRT/1320 (Minot) was not sold and returned its license.
