“Mix 92.9” Brings Adult Contemporary Back to Bismarck

Posted on December 27, 2021May 7, 2024 by Jon Ellis

After seven weeks as “Christmas 92.9,” iHeartMedia’s KYYY/92.9 (Bismarck) has relaunched as “Mix 92.9.”

The new format kicked off at midnight on Monday, Dec. 27, with Timbaland’s “Apologize.”

The new “Mix 92.9” lineup includes iHeart’s “Valentine in the Morning” and other syndicated iHeart hosts the rest of the day.

The station’s Adult Contemporary/80s format is positioned as “variety from the 80s to today.” The playlist is heavy on music from the last two decades as well as the 80s, with a few 90s songs as well.

Bismarck has no other AC or Hot AC station. The market has not had an AC station since 2011 when KYYY, under its former longtime “Y93” branding, transitioned out of the format and Radio Bismarck Mandan’s KXRV/107.5 flipped from AC to Classic Hits.

Under its previous Contemporary Hits format, “Y93” had competed with Townsquare Media’s “Hot 97.5” (KKCT).
