Townsquare Adds Williston Stations as Part of 9-Market Deal

Posted on March 24, 2022 by Jon Ellis

Townsquare Media will add three radio stations in Williston, North Dakota, as part of a purchase of Cherry Creek Media.

The $18.75 million purchase announced March 24 includes 35 stations in nine markets, not counting six stations in Missoula, MT, and two in Washington’s Tri-Cities that will be divested.

Williston is Cherry Creek Media’s easternmost market. The group includes Full Service Country outlet KEYZ/660 (Williston), Hot Adult Contemporary-formatted “Power 95” (KTHC/95.1 Sidney, MT-Williston), and “Dakota Country Z96.1” (KYYZ Williston).

The group competes with two FM stations operated by Stephan Marks’ Williston Community Broadcasting.

Townsquare’s only other North Dakota group is in Bismarck, where it has four FM stations and one AM station. Once the deal is complete, Townsquare will own 356 stations in 74 markets, focused mostly on markets outside of the top 50.
