The first full-power Christian FM station has signed on in northwestern Wisconsin’s Barron County.
WGIF/90.1 (Rice Lake) is owned by the Barron Calvary Baptist Church. It transmits with 6kW/68m (class A) from a tower south of Barron, delivering a strong signal to Barron, Chetek, and Rice Lake.
WGIF was granted as a result of a 2021 filing window which also saw the grant of Wisconsin Public Radio’s WEPP-FM/90.7 (Rice Lake). They are the first full-power non-commercial stations in Barron County, which has six commercial radio licenses and is also served by several commercial stations from neighboring counties.
Rice Lake also has a low-power Christian radio station and the area is also served by fringe signals from Eau Claire and Minneapolis.
