WPR Announces New Lineup Following Program Cancellations

Posted on September 17, 2025September 16, 2025 by Jon Ellis

Wisconsin Public Radio has released new program schedules following the cancellation of four WPR-produced weekly programs.

The cancellations include nationally-syndicated “BETA,” “To The Best of Our Knowledge,” and “Zorba Paster On Your Health,” as well as WPR’s long-running “University of the Air.” The last editions of the shows will air on Sept. 27 and 28.

The program changes, beginning Oct. 4, will mostly impact the weekend schedule of WPR’s News network. It will add a new Wisconsin show, begin airing several new national programs, and add an hour to “Weekend Edition” on Saturdays and Sundays.

“Wisconsin Weekend,” recapping some items from the daily “Wisconsin Today” program, will air at 3 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. Sundays.

National programs joining the weekend schedule include “The Sam Sanders Show,” “The Splendid Table,” “Throughline,” and “Planet Money/How I Built This.” Additionally, “Freakonomics Radio” and “Embodied” will join the weeknight schedule at 10 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays to replace repeats of “TTBOOK.”

Meanwhile, the national hourlong pairing of “Code Switch/Life Kit” is no longer on the WPR schedule.

The changes are much simpler on the WPR Music network, which will air an additional hour of Classical music at 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays to replace airings of “BETA” and “TTBOOK.”

A post on the network’s website provides an hour-by-hour detail of the schedule changes.
