The signals formerly used to bring the seasonal “Gift 106” playlist to Marquette have launched a new light Classic Hits format.
“106.1 The Sound” is now heard on W291CJ/106.1 and WFXD-HD4 (Marquette), playing Light Rock hits from the 1960s to the 1980s. Core artists include The Beatles, Chicago, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Duran Duran, and Billy Joel.
The Monday, March 2, launch came after several weeks of stunting with a heartbeat followed by a countdown over the weekend.
“Our team here at mediaBrew Communcations has been working on a cool change and it’s finally time for us to share. We’re excited to hear what people think of our all new sound as we build it into something new, featuring the best of the old,” mediaBrew Communications Marquette owner Charles Williams said in a news release.
“The Sound” is the sixth format offered by MediaBrew Communications Marquette, which also has Adult Contemporary, Classic Hits, Classic Rock, Country, and Sports formats. The Classic Hits and Sports formats are also heard on translators and WFXD subchannels.
