The following are updates to previously-reported items and other recent regulatory filings and actions concerning Upper Midwest broadcast stations. This report is created by the author and is not an official report of the FCC.
Iowa
Residence Associations Broadcasting Service’s KURE/88.5 (Ames) reported that it has completed a relocation of its transmitter from the Iowa State University campus to the WOI/640 facility southwest of Ames, changing from 630W/22m to 105W/81m (class A).
Minnesota
Park Public Radio filed an application for review of the FCC’s decision to uphold its grant of an upgrade to Central Baptist Theological Seminary’s K250BY/97.9 (Plymouth), rather than PPR’s KPPS-LP/97.5 (St. Louis Park). (See earlier coverage for details of the complicated conflict.) In its latest filing, PPR alleges that there have been “inaccuracies and misapplication of FCC rules and precedent.”
Edge Spectrum’s K29NY-D (Alexandria) applied to increase from 500W to 15kW, remaining at its current site northwest of Alexandria.
Nebraska
Standard Media’s KLKN/8 (Lincoln) requested another extension of special temporary authority for its digital replacement translator on channel 35 to operate at reduced power of 3.3kW while it continues to explore options for restoring the translator to full power of 5.6kW.
My Bridge Radio’s K282AX/104.3 (Paxton), which has been off the air since last August after having to leave its previous tower site, reported that it has located two new potential sites but negotiations are still underway. K282AX requested an extension of special temporary authority to remain silent.
Wisconsin
David Magnum’s W258CM/99.5 (Madison) submitted a license to cover application indicating its new facility in Sun Prairie has been constructed. The move which included an upgrade from 120 to 250 Watts and an increase in antenna height.
Civic Media’s WBZH/910 (Hayward) requested an extension of special temporary authority to remain silent, saying the station has received a new transmitter but it has not yet been installed. The station went off the air under previous ownership.
The FCC approved Civic Media’s purchase of WRPQ/740 (Baraboo), W259BC/99.7 (Baraboo), and W279EG/103.7 (Baraboo-Reedsburg) from Baraboo Broadcasting Corp. The buyer has indicated plans to keep the stations’ current “Max FM” format.
