Just as seasonal cabin owners are returning to their properties in northwestern Wisconsin, Zoe Communications has opened a third “Cabin” in the region.
WZEZ/104.9 (Balsam Lake) is now “The Cabin” with an `80s-based Classic Hits format, pivoting from an “EZ 104.9” Light Adult Contemporary format that had been on the air since early 2019.
The lineup continues to include the syndicated Murphy, Sam, and Jodi in the Morning.
Many of the songs included in the new playlist will be familiar to longtime listeners of the station, which has run several variations of Adult Contemporary and Variety Hits formats since 1999. (Your reporter worked there from 1999 to 2002.)
“The Cabin” competes primarily with TKC’s “Fox 99-1” (WKFX Rice Lake). The western part of WZEZ’s coverage area is also under the umbrella of iHeartMedia’s “Kool 108” (KQQL/107.9 Anoka-Minneapolis).
Zoe also operates “Cabin” formats in Hayward on W245CT/96.9 (WHSM-FM-HD2) and in Ladysmith on WJBL/93.1.
