Shortly after the Nebraska Rural Radio Association announced plans to buy Legacy Communications’ group in the Scottsbluff market, it’s already found a buyer for one of the spinoffs.
An asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC indicates VSS Catholic Communications will buy KETT/99.3 (Mitchell-Scottsbluff) from Legacy for $40,000. VSS operates the statewide non-commercial “Spirit Catholic Radio” network heard on four full-power stations, two translators, and seven low-power FM affiliates, including locally-owned KCTH-LP/95.1 (Scottsbluff).
KETT had previously carried an Adult Contemporary format as “Sunny 99.3” but reportedly went off the air at the beginning of the month when the NRRA took over four of the other stations its buying from Legacy. The NRRA has also indicated that it plans to spin off KOAQ/1320 (Scottsbluff), formerly KOLT.
KETT was the only class A commercial station (the smallest full-power FM class) in the Scottsbluff market, though a reader points out that the class C3 signal of KHYY/106.9 (Minatare-Scottsbluff) is actually smaller due to its very low antenna height.
