Ice Storm Takes Down Nebraska TV Tower

Ice toppled the tower of Gray TV CBS affiliate KOLN/10 (Lincoln) early Saturday, Jan. 18.

The station reports that no one was at the site at the time of the collapse and there were no injuries. Programming has been restored on a temporary transmitter and Spectrum cable, but viewers outside of Lincoln may still be missing service.

FCC records indicate the 1,500-foot tower about 25 miles west of Lincoln, near Beaver Crossing, was built in 1984.

KOLN’s programming is rebroadcast on KGIN/11.1 (Grand Island).

Besides CBS, KOLN also carries a simulcast of NBC affiliate KSNB/4.1 on 10.2, MeTV on 10.3, and H&I on 10.4.
