More Prime Time News for Western North Dakota

Posted on March 16, 2020 by Jon Ellis

Western North Dakota TV viewers now have more options for prime time news as both of the region’s TV news outlets expand their offerings.

Nexstar’s “CW2” launched a 9 p.m. newscast on Monday, March 16. “CW2” is seen on KXMA/2.1 (Dickinson) and the DT2 channels of KXMB (Bismarck), KXMC (Minot), and KXMD (Williston). All of the stations also carry CBS.

The half-hour “CW2” newscast will be anchored by Becky Farr with weather from Tom Schrader.

Meanwhile, Gray TV’s “West Dakota FOX News at Nine” has expanded to an hour. FOX is seen on the DT2 channels of KFYR-TV (Bismarck), KMOT (Minot), KUMV (Williston), and KQCD (Dickinson), which are all primary NBC affiliates, as well as the DT1 channel of low-power TV stations in Williston and Dickinson.

A Fargo-based 9 p.m. newscast is also available on the DT2 (Justice Network) and DT3 (WDAY’Z Xtra) channels of Forum Communications’ KBMY (Bismarck) and KMCY (Minot). KBMY and KMCY do not have local news departments and simulcast WDAY-TV’s Fargo newscasts.
