Riverfront Adds Station to Black Hills Group

Posted on March 19, 2020 by Jon Ellis

A longtime standalone station in the northern Black Hills is being sold to another area broadcaster.

According to an asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC, Riverfront Broadcasting is buying KDSJ/980 (Deadwood) from 4 Paws Broadcasting for $80,000. Riverfront also owns four FM stations and one AM station in the Rapid City market.

KDSJ is the only commercial radio station directly targeting the northern Hills and carries a broad Classic Hits format with a large amount of local news and information.

4 Paws had just closed on its purchase of the station from Goldrush Broadcasting in December.

Riverfront is owned by Doyle and Carolyn Becker of Yankton. Regionally, Riverfront and its sister companies also own three stations in Pierre, three in Yankton, four in Minnesota, and two in Iowa.
