Wisconsin AM Station Drops Talk for Oldies

Posted on October 5, 2020 by Jon Ellis

A southern Wisconsin AM radio station has dropped syndicated talk for a traditional Oldies playlist following its recent sale to Magnum Communications.

WFAW/940 (Fort Atkinson) is now “Oldies 940” but continues to carry a local morning show and local news, as well as a nameless national newscast, the Wisconsin Radio Network, FOX Sports updates, the Packers, and the Brewers.

The 500-Watt station had previously carried a mostly-syndicated lineup of centrist or non-political talk shows including Our American Stories, Markley, Van Camp, & Robbins, SportsMap Radio, and Jim Bohannan. In past years, WFAW had carried Conservative talkers including Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.

The format change comes two months after Magnum closed on its purchase of WFAW, WKCH/106.5 (Whitewater), and WSJY/107.3 (Fort Atkinson) from NRG Media.
