Gray Takes Over CW, MeTV Affiliations in Several Markets

Posted on August 2, 2021 by Jon Ellis

Gray TV is taking over the CW and MeTV affiliations from Quincy Media stations in several markets.

Networks changing channels include:

  • Cedar Rapids: CW moves from Quincy’s KWWL/7.2 to Gray’s KCRG/9.3, replacing Antenna TV. KCRG says it is also dropping its DT4, DT5, and DT6 channels so the remaining three can all be in HD.
  • Eau Claire: CW and MeTV move from Quincy’s WQOW/WXOW to Gray’s WEAU and its new low-power stations, WECX-LD/14 and W33DH-D. MeTV is now on WEAU/13.3, while CW is on W33DX/WECX 14.1, H&I moves from 13.3 to 14.2, and Start moves from 13.5 to 14.3. The change comes less than a year after MeTV changed stations in a different subchannel swap.
  • Madison: MeTV moves from Quincy’s WKOW/27.2 to Gray’s WMTV/15.4, and WeatherNation moves to 15.6. WMTV already carries CW on 15.2.
  • Wausau: CW moves from Quincy’s WAOW/9.2 to Gray’s WSAW/7.4, and Start TV moves from 7.4 to Gray’s WZAW-LD/33.5. WSAW already carries MeTV on 7.2.

Allen Media is buying Quincy ABC affiliates WKOW (Madison), WAOW (La Crosse), WQOW (Eau Claire), and WXOW (La Crosse) and NBC affiliate KWWL (Waterloo-Cedar Rapids). All are in markets where Gray already owns other major network affiliates.
