Townsquare Moves ESPN Sioux Falls, Adds Second KIKN Signal

Posted on August 4, 2021 by Jon Ellis

Townsquare Media has added a second signal for its “KIKN Country” format in Sioux Falls, resulting in a move for ESPN and the end of a News/Talk format.

KSOO-FM/99.1 (Lennox) is now simulcasting KIKN/100.5 (Salem), with KIKN rimshotting Sioux Falls from the west and KSOO-FM coming in from the south.

Meanwhile, ESPN moved from KSOO-FM to KSOO/1000 (Sioux Falls) and its new FM translator, K272FZ/102.3 (Sioux Falls).

KSOO will continue to carry the Twins and Packers as “ESPN Sioux Falls.”

The changes mean the end of KSOO’s long-running News/Talk format, which had aired on 1140 until a swap with KXRB’s Classic Country format several years ago. KSOO’s lineup had also recently included Delilah in the evenings.

As a talk station, KSOO had competed with Midwest’s KELO/1320 (Sioux Falls) and KELQ/107.9 (Flandreau).
