Contemporary Christian Format Expands in Southwestern Minn.

Posted on March 3, 2026 by Jon Ellis

Christensen Broadcasting’s commercial Contemporary Christian format “KD Radio” is now airing on a third signal in southwestern Minnesota.

“KD” is now airing on KQAD/800 (Luverne), replacing a Classic Hits format. The change follows Christensen Broadcasting Luv LLC’s purchase of KQAD and Country-formatted “K101” (KLQL/101.1 Luverne) from Connoisseur Media, which closed Feb. 27.

Christensen’s KISD/98.7 (Pipestone) also airs Classic Hits.

The FCC has approved a callsign change for KQAD to KDWC effective March 9, and the callsign is already being used on the air. The WC stands for “We Care” radio.

“KD Radio” also airs on K257FP/99.3 (Pipestone) and the HD3 signal of KJOE/106.1 (Slayton).

With help from its low frequency and the Midwest’s great ground conductivity, KQAD’s 500-Watt daytime signal reaches parts of four states, delivering a good signal to Sioux Falls. It drops to 80 Watts at night.
