The following are updates to previously-reported items and other recent regulatory filings and actions concerning Upper Midwest broadcast stations. This report is created by the author and is not an official report of the FCC.
Iowa
Divine Mercy Educational Radio Association’s K249EP/97.7 (Fort Madison) has applied to move to 94.3, seeking to escape interference from other stations on 97.7. On 94.3 it would remain 250 Watts and continue to transmit from West Point, relaying co-owned KDME-LP to an area northwest of Fort Madison.
Minnesota
The University of Northwestern-St. Paul’s K270DZ/101.9 (New Ulm) has returned to the air.
North Dakota
Gray TV’s K18NW-D (Minot) and K20PB-D (Williston) reported that they have completed upgrades to 15kW.
The University of Northwestern-St. Paul reported that K293BN/106.5 (Bowman), K295BR/106.9 (Dickinson), and K274CC/102.7 (New England) have returned to the air and are relaying KSLS/90.7 (Dickinson). All three translators switched to non-directional antennas, and K293BN also upgraded to 92 Watts. K295BR transmits from the same site as KSLS.
Wisconsin
Civic Media’s WVXN/1520 (New Holstein) reports that it left the air March 25 due to equipment issues.
The FCC granted Civic Media’s W297CU/107.3 (Amery) a construction permit to move to 107.5 as W298BK and relocate its transmitter site along U.S. Highway 8 northwest of Amery. The move will improve the translator’s signal to Amery and add coverage of Balsam Lake. It relays WLAK/1260.
The FCC approved Civic Media’s purchase of WEZY/105.7 (Chippewa Falls), W228EP/93.5 (Eau Claire), WLXR/1490 (La Crosse), WRJN/1400 (Racine), W260BV/99.9 (Racine), W251BU/98.1 (Kenosha), and W239CV/95.7 (Oshkosh) from Magnum Communications and David Magnum.
