Longtime Duluth morning radio host Jeanne Ryan has died, FOX 21 reports. Ryan was first at WWAX/92.1 but was best known for her work at “Mix 108” (KBMX/107.7). The station is planning a tribute.
As first noted by RadioInsight, Chris Carson has debuted as the new morning host at Midwest’s WIXX/101.1 (Green Bay). His Dec. 14 debut came just over two weeks after longtime lead morning host Jim Murphy retired and a week after former co-hosts Katie Schurk and Nick Vitrano announced their departures from the station.
Following up on the previous announcement of Julie Zenner and Greg Grell‘s retirement from “Almanac North,” PBS North (WDSE Duluth) announced that the weekly public affairs show will go on hiatus after a Dec. 15 show honoring their legacy at the station. “Almanac North” will return Feb. 2 with a new set, logo, and host, and current co-host Dennis Anderson will provide special segments.
A belated note that Gray CW affiliate KCRG-TV/9.3 (Cedar Rapids) has launched a 9 p.m. newscast called “Iowa Tonight,” which is simulcast on Gray FOX affiliate KYOU-TV/15.1 (Ottumwa). It also repeats at 10 p.m. on KYOU’s DT2 NBC channel.
Tri-State Christian Television’s KTTW (Sioux Falls) has dropped Scripps News from channel 7.9.
Minnesota Public Radio’s station alerts page says KQMN/91.5 and KNTN/102.7 (Thief River Falls-Grand Forks) are having new transmitters installed and may be off the air at times.
