Weekly Log: Regional TV Newscast; Morning Departures in MSP, Willmar

Posted on January 19, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Forum’s Sioux Falls Live reported on the launch of “Forum News Network at 9” newscasts on Independent station KSFL/36.1 (Sioux Falls). The report lists the official launch date as Jan. 15, though it’s actually been on the air since the beginning of the year. The newscast is simulcast from WDAY-TV/6.2 and 6.3 (Fargo) and includes news and weather content for all of Forum’s newspaper/online coverage area, including Duluth, Rochester, and St. Cloud. (The newscast was already also simulcast on Forum’s KBMY/17.3 Bismarck.) It can be streamed through the WDAY+ connected TV app.

RAMP reports that Ryan Roos is leaving the Crisco, Dez & Ryan morning show on KS95 (KSTP-FM/94.5 St. Paul) for a new job outside of media.

Longtime morning host Tim Burns announced that new owners have informed him that he is no longer part of Q102 (KQIC/102.5 Willmar). The station’s sale to Lakeland Media closed this week. Burns had been with the station for 29 years.

Sinclair announced that it has renewed its FOX affiliations, which include stations in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Green Bay, Lincoln, Madison, Omaha, and Sioux City.

Audacy announced that regional president Brian Purdy will add oversight of the company’s Chicago, Madison, and Milwaukee radio groups, while Mark Hannon will assume regional oversight of Audacy Minneapolis.

Salem Media announced that former Minneapolis general manager Nic Anderson has been promoted to vice president of government affairs, while Mike Murphy has been promoted from Minneapolis station manager to GM. Salem’s Minneapolis group includes four AM stations, one FM translator, and an online-only station.

Prairie Public announced that Ann Alquist has joined as director of radio.

As noted by HisAir, new My Bridge Radio station KRLK/90.1 (Norfolk) is carrying the network’s Spanish-language service. KRLK is the fifth signal carrying the network.
