Jeff Johnson announced plans to retire from KYMN/1080 (Northfield) this fall and sell the station to Rich Larson, the station’s current news director.
An application to transfer the license has not yet been filed with the FCC as of April 11.
An announcement on the station’s website says Larson intends to continue Northfield-centric programming on KYMN, which is rebroadcast on K236CO/95.1.
Johnson has worked for the station for 37 years and purchased it in 2008. He currently hosts mornings.
Northfield, the home of Carleton College and St. Olaf College, is just south of the Twin Cities and KYMN is under the umbrella of metro-area signals.
KYMN transmits with 1kW day and 11 Watts night, non-directional. The FM translator uses 250 Watts.
Besides local information and sports, KYMN’s programming includes an eclectic music mix and Minnesota Twins baseball.
