Weekly Log: Longtime Wis. Reporter Departing; New LPFM Signing On

Posted on November 6, 2026November 5, 2026 by Jon Ellis

Josh Rohrer, Forum Communications’ Vice President of TV and General Manager of WDAY-TV/6 (Fargo), has died at 47. His obituary notes that Rohrer had a degree in chemistry initially took a job at WDAY to pay the bills but became a respected and valued member of the station’s team.

Terry McHugh has retired from his longtime role as vice president and general manager of Gray NBC affiliate WEAU/13 (Eau Claire). McHugh had been in the position for 21 years and worked for more than 40 years in the local TV industry, WEAU reports.

Political reporter/anchor Charles Benson has announced plans to depart Scripps NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV/4 (Milwaukee) after 22 years with the station. Benson did not call it a retirement and has not announced plans for the future.

Former radio host Jessica Williams has joined Gray NBC affiliate KTTC/10 (Rochester) as Director of Brand Engagement and Audience Development.

New community radio station WVCB-LP/97.7 (Ashland, WI) is holding an open house on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Minnesota Public Radio has given a name to its new weekday call-in show: “Talking Sense.” The program hosted by Catharine Richert launched this fall at 11 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, replacing an hour of the national show “1A.” The title revives a name MPR used for a 2022 political reporting project.

“Native Report,” a longtime show at “PBS North” (WDSE/8 Duluth), has expanded to radio with “Native Connections,” a free eight-part series being distributed by PRX. The show will air on “The North 103.3” (WDSE-FM Duluth).

The flips to All-Christmas got off to a slower start this year with only two Upper Midwest stations making the change on Nov. 1: “Star 104.5” (KSRZ Omaha) and “106.1 The Sound” (WFXD-HD4 Marquette). That’s down from four Nov. 1 flippers last year in the Upper Midwest and nine in 2024. However, several more stations followed on Monday, Nov. 2. More Christmas conversions are likely later in the day Friday, Nov. 6 after this post is initially published. Track the flips on the 2026 All-Christmas Stations list and send your tips to jonellis@northpine.com.
