FM Station Moves Into Grand Forks Market, Goes All-Christmas

Posted on October 30, 2024October 31, 2024 by Jon Ellis

An FM station that signed on a few years ago from just west of Grand Forks has moved into the metro area and flipped to All-Christmas.

Jordan Zeller’s KQYZ (Emerado) has moved from 99.1 to 98.5 from a transmitter site near East Grand Forks, using 9kW/102m (class C3). It had first signed on in 2022 using 100 Watts, covering the immediate Emerado area.

The station has launched an All-Christmas playlist as “Christmas 98.5,” making it the first Upper Midwest Christmas flip of the year in the Upper Midwest. The lineup also includes NDSU Bison Football and the Green Bay Packers.

On 99.1, KQYZ had carried a Classic Hits format.
