Northwestern Media’s KDNW Adds Third Full-Power Satellite

Posted on March 8, 2025March 8, 2025 by Jon Ellis

Northwestern Media has signed on a new station in Grand Rapids, Minn., replacing a previous translator to act as a full-power satellite of Contemporary Christian outlet “Life 97.3” (KDNW Duluth).

KDGR/88.1 (Grand Rapids) transmits with 5kW at 55 meters above average terrain, utilizing the same antenna location previously used by 250-Watt KDNW translator K201IX/88.1.

K201IX has a construction permit to move to 88.9 as K205GG, switching its input station to KLBF (Lincoln, ND) via internet delivery. KLBF serves as the feeder station for several Northwestern “Faith Radio” translators across the region.

KDGR’s application for license to cover explains that K201IX/K205GG is silent until a combiner arrives to allow both stations to use the same antenna.

KDGR is KDNW’s fourth full-power satellite, joining KRFG/102.9 (Nashwauk) and WDNW/91.9 (Ashland). Additionally, KDNW is relayed on WJRF/89.5 (Duluth), which has a coverage area embedded within KDNW’s, and is relayed on translators in Grand Marais, Hayward, and Spooner:
