Duluth FM Station Switches Christian Programming (Updated)

Posted on July 21, 2025July 21, 2025 by Jon Ellis

WJRF/89.5 (Duluth) has switched to the “Voice of the Master” following the network’s purchase of the station.

WRVM, Inc. closed on its $150,000 purchase of WJRF from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on July 18. Over the weekend, the station aired a five-minute promo reel of network programming:

WJRF switched over to WRVM programming on July 21 and a familiar voice returned to 89.5: former WJRF general manager Brett Gibson, who is now WRVM’s chief engineer. Gibson joined the network’s morning show live from the WJRF transmitter site to mark the switchover.

The network is based at WRVM/102.7 (Suring, Wis.). WJRF is WRVM’s first station in Minnesota, adding to existing coverage of northeastern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

WRVM’s programming includes Christian teaching and preaching and Southern Gospel music, the latter of which is not heard on any of Duluth’s existing Christian radio stations.

WJRF had simulcast “Life 97.3” (KDNW Duluth) since UNWSP received the station and others as a donation in 2019 following the shutdown of the former “Refuge Radio” network.
