Weekly Log: “Jason Show” Adds Affiliates; Several Wis. TV Moves

“The Jason Show,” based at FOX O&O KMSP/9 (Minneapolis), will add 22 more cities to its distribution this September, bringing the show’s national reach to 40%. New markets will include San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Miami, and Washington.

Gray Media NBC affiliate WMTV/15.1 (Madison) announced the hiring of Bridget Fargen as news director. Fargen comes from Gray’s WSAW/WZAW-LD (Wausau), where former WMTV news director Jessica Laszewski recently moved to become general manager.

Allen Media ABC affiliate WKOW/27.1 (Madison) has hired Karl Winter as sports director.

FOX O&O WITI/6.1 (Milwaukee) has hired Hayley Spitler as morning breaking news anchor.

Gilmarie Morales is being promoted from producer to co-anchor of the 10 p.m. newscast on Weigel’s Telemundo Wisconsin (WYTU-LD/63.1).

Gray Media announced that it has renewed all of its FOX affiliations, which include KFYR-DT/5.2 (Bismarck), KEYC/12.2 (Mankato), KIIT-CD/11.1 (North Platte), KYOU-TV/15.1 (Ottumwa), KEVN-LD/7.1 (Rapid City), KXLT/47.1 (Rochester), KDLT/46.2 (Sioux Falls), and WZAW-LD/33.1 (Wausau).

Nebraska Public Media announced that Lora Black is returning to its radio network to host “Nebraska Concerts” on Fridays at 11 a.m. Central beginning Sept. 5. The network also announced that it will add the “This OId House Radio Hour” on Sundays at 1 p.m. Central time beginning Sept. 7. It will replace “To The Best of Our Knowledge,” which will end production this fall.

Nebraska’s Pinnacle Award winners for station of the year were Gray CBS affiliate KOLN/10.1 (Lincoln) and iHeartMedia’s “KAT 103.7” (KXKT Glenwood-Omaha). Awards for best newscast went to Gray NBC affiliate WOWT/6.1 (Omaha) and iHeartMedia’s KFAB/1110 (Omaha).
