Weekly Log: Two Classic Rockers Extend Reach with HD Simulcasts

Posted on August 29, 2025August 29, 2025 by Jon Ellis

Hubbard Radio is now simulcasting Classic Rocker “The Power Loon” (KLIZ-FM/107.5 Brainerd) on the HD3 signal of KTMY/107.1 (Coon Rapids-Minneapolis-St. Paul).

Meanwhile, Magnum Media is now simulcasting Classic Rocker WTMB/94.5 (Tomah) on the HD4 signal of its WKBH-FM (Onalaska-La Crosse), with WKBH-FM-HD4 relayed on new translator K224FW/92.7 (La Crosse).

WUWM/89.7 (Milwaukee) announced that a major remodeling of the station’s studios has been underway this week, meaning the station has been temporarily airing the national feeds of NPR news magazines rather than locally-hosted versions. WUWM has also hired Graham Thomas as local “All Things Considered” host.

Following South Dakota Public Broadcasting‘s announcement that they would cut 25% of their staff and end two programs due to federal funding cuts, the Friends of SDPB has launched a “Bison Campaign” to restore most of the lost $2.3 million. So far, the campaign has raised more than two-thirds of its $2 million goal.

The American Archive of Public Broadcasting announced that it is adding an archive of Wisconsin Public Radio’s “To The Best of Our Knowledge,” which will end production this fall.

Cumulus Media has hired Brian Sines as vice president and market manager for its Des Moines group, which includes KJJY, KGGO, KHKI, and KWQW.

Allen Media ABC affiliate WAOW/9 (Wausau) has hired Kyle Pozorski as evening news anchor. Pozorski grew up in a town near Wausau and most recently worked in Madison.

Nolan Cain has joined Gray ABC affiliate WBAY-TV/2 (Green Bay) as weekend evening meteorologist.

Anchor/managing editor Briggs LeSavage has announced her departure from Gray NBC/CBS affiliate KBJR/6 (Superior-Duluth) for a new job outside of media. LeSavage has worked at KBJR for nine years and worked at Hubbard ABC affiliate WDIO/10 (Duluth) for two years prior to that.

New DTV network MovieSphere Gold recently launched featuring titles from the Lionsgate library. The network’s website lists affiliates including KMYN-LD (Duluth), KWJM-LD/15.1 (Minneapolis), KMND-LD/43.1 (Minneapolis), KMQV/49.1 (Rochester-Minneapolis), KXSH-LD/35.1 (Rochester), KQMK-LD/25.1 (Omaha), KAJS-LD/33.3 (Lincoln-Omaha), K15MR-D/51.8 (Fargo), WIWN/68.4 (Fond du Lac-Milwaukee), and WJFW/12.4 (Rhinelander). It’s not clear if all of the affiliates are yet on the air; it has not yet appeared on the Duluth station. Several cities are also listed as “coming soon” including Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Des Moines, Ottumwa, Marquette, Lincoln, Sioux Falls, Green Bay, La Crosse, and Madison.
