RadioInsight reported that “Cities 97.1” (KTCZ Minneapolis) has rehired Naima to co-host mornings with Brian Oake.
“93.7 The Ticket” (KNTK Firth-Lincoln) announced the hiring of former Husker basketball player Erick Strickland as a full-time host. Strickland has been part of the station’s afternoon show since last fall but has been participating remotely from Florida; he is now moving to Lincoln.
The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association noted that reporter Tyler Job is moving from WKBT/8.1 (La Crosse) to WGBA/26.1 (Green Bay).
Tegna announced that its shareholders have approved a merger with an affiliate of Standard General. The deal is expected to close in the second half of the year.
Regional winners for overall excellence in the RTDNA’s Murrow Awards include Tegna NBC affiliate KARE/11 (Minneapolis), Gray NBC affiliate WMTV/15 (Madison), Audacy’s WCCO/830 (Minneapolis), and South Dakota Public Broadcasting. Best newscast winners included KARE 11 News at 10, Allen Media ABC affiliate WKOW (Madison)’s 27 News at 10, WCCO Drivetime News, and the noon news on Gopher Communications’ KROX/1260 (Crookston).
