Lincoln Low-Power FM Station Getting New Owners

The license of silent low-power FM station KJFT-LP/107.9 (Lincoln) is being transferred to new owners.

According to an agreement filed with the FCC, the Lincoln Chinese Ministry Association is transferring the 100-Watt station to DUO Ministries LLC in exchange for the assignor continuing to program the 6 to 9 p.m. weeknight block on the station.

DUO Ministries is headed by President Carol Leggett, with Rachel De Palma and Carol’s husband Brad Leggett serving as the group’s other directors. Brad Leggett is general manager of Walnut Radio’s KCRO/660 (Omaha-Lincoln), which recently launched FM translator K294DJ/106.7 (Lincoln), and Brad and Carol host an afternoon show on KCRO.

A document filed with the FCC says the new owners plan to carry Christian music and talk on KJFT-LP:

DUO Ministries proposes to use KJFT-LP for the advancement of an educational program. In particular, KJFT-LP will broadcast programs to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The applicant proposes to use KJFTLP to present a comprehensive daily effort to educate the public, Christians and non-Christians, about the tenets of Christian life, including teachings of the Bible. Additional programming will consist of broadcasts of Christian music and talk. In sum, KJFT-LP will provide an important educational resource for the residents of Lincoln and Lancaster County, in the public interest, convenience and necessity.

KJFT had carried Footprint FM, a Chinese-language Christian network, until going silent in February after losing its tower lease. Lincoln Chinese Ministry Association had told the FCC at that time that it was looking for another group to take the license.
