Weekly Log: Twin Cities DJ Changes Stations; Regional ACM Nominees

Jeff Olson, formerly of Twin Cities Classic Hits outlet “Kool 108” (KQQL), is moving to Oldies outlet WDGY/740 to host afternoons. WDGY is also heard on W221BS/92.1 (St. Paul) and W279DD/103.7 (Hudson).

RadioInsight reported that Greg Chance has returned to iHeartMedia and now oversees the company’s stations in Des Moines, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Grand Forks, Bismarck, Dickinson, and Minot.

Rick Gevers’ weekly newsletter reports that Alan Baker is leaving the news director’s post at Tegna ABC affiliate WQAD/8 (Moline-Quad Cities).

Reporter Ginna Roe has departed Hubbard ABC affiliate KSTP-TV/5 (St. Paul), saying she is stepping away from news for awhile.

Nominees for Academy of Country Music Awards include Ridder, Scott, and Shannen of WMIL/106.1 (Waukesha-Milwaukee) and Steve Lundy and Gina Melton of “103.7 The Kat” (KXKT Glenwood-Omaha). Both stations are also up for Station of the Year in their respective market sizes.

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Foundation announced that this year’s Local Broadcast Legends honorees will be WXOW/19 (La Crosse) meteorologist Dan Breedan, WTCH/960 (Shawano) morning host Doug Erdman, retired Milwaukee radio host Gene Mueller, and longtime Eau Claire radio host John Murphy.

Ag Week reported on the issue of AM radio potentially being left out of future vehicles, highlighting the band’s continued importance for farm broadcasting.
