Weekly Log: New Lifestyle Shows in Duluth and Iowa; New Mankato Newscast

Gray NBC/CBS affiliate KBJR/6 (Superior-Duluth) announced the launch of new lifestyle show “Northern Life,” featuring Briggs LeSavage, Ryan Haff, and Hunter McCullough. The show will air at 12:30 on KBJR’s NBC channel and at 6:30 on its CBS channel starting Sept. 11.

Gray NBC affiliate KMNF-LD/7 (Mankato) is launching a 5 p.m. Sunday newscast beginning Sept. 2.

Iowa PBS announced the launch of a new magazine series, “Iowa Life,” which will begin a 13-episode season on Oct. 10.

The CW announced that it has renewed its affiliation agreements with 42 Gray TV stations as agreements for another 13 Gray stations continue.

TCT’s KWKB (Iowa City) is no longer carrying Twist on channel 20.6.

Gray’s KHME (Rapid City) has added Oxygen on channel 23.5.

NRG’s KOKZ/105.7 (Waterloo-Cedar Rapids) announced that it is back up to full power.

In the wake of some premature declarations of the death of linear TV, Nielsen issued a report noting that linear TV is growing on free ad-supported TV (FAST) streaming platforms.


People

Good Karma Brands announced that Greg Scalzo has been promoted to Milwaukee market manager. Changes will be made to the “ESPN Milwaukee” (WKTI/94.5) lineup starting Sept. 11 since Scalzo co-hosts an afternoon show with Ben Brust: Brust will now be joined by Brad Nortman and Kyle Wallace from 2 to 5 p.m. The first two hours of the show will be simulcast on WTLX/100.5 (Monona-Madison).

Anchor Lauren Taylor announced her departure from Gray NBC affiliate WOWT/6 (Omaha) for a job outside local news.

RadioInsight reports that Jayson Slade has been promoted to music director and midday host at Midwest’s WIXX/101.1 (Green Bay) and also that Carly Rogers has joined Midwest’s WIFC/95.5 (Wausau) has morning co-host.
