Milwaukee will again have a network owned-and-operated station as FOX buys WITI/6.1 for the second time.
Fox Corporation announced Tuesday that it’s buying WITI and two stations in Seattle (KCPQ-FOX and KZJO-MNT) from Nexstar for $350 million. Nexstar acquired the stations as part of its recent purchase of Tribune Broadcasting.
FOX had previously owned WITI from 1997 to 2007.
FOX’s press release called Milwaukee and Seattle “two key markets that align with the company’s sports rights.” Since Green Bay is a medium market, Milwaukee is often considered a second home market for the Packers.
Regionally, FOX also owns stations in Chicago and Minneapolis.
