Two Upper Peninsula Stations Drop Talk for Oldies (Updated With Audio)

Posted on July 3, 2024July 7, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Two AM radio stations in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula have dropped News/Talk formats in favor of Oldies.

DX-midAMerica first noted the changes by Results Radio Network’s WDMJ/1320 (Marquette) and WMIQ/1450 (Iron Mountain).

The stations’ website indicates WDMJ and WMIQ are carrying a `60s to `80s playlist positioned as “Greatest Hits” with syndicated personalities Mark Elliott, Bill Knight, Doc Jarnigan, Byrd, and Dusty Stewart. FOX News continues on the hour.

FCC filings indicate WDMJ recently returned to its full daytime power of 5kW, with 140 Watts at night. WMIQ transmits with 1kW day and night.

Radio Results Network continues to program a News/Talk format on WCHT/600 (Escanaba) and W228DQ/93.5 (Escanaba). WCHT delivers a fringe daytime signal to Iron Mountain and Marquette, which have no other News/Talk stations.

The imaging on WDMJ includes an occasional announcement that listeners can find their favorite talk shows on WCHT’s website:
