Longtime North Dakota Christian Radio Stations to Shut Down

Posted on July 23, 2024July 23, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Longtime Christian radio stations KHRT/1320 and KHRT-FM/106.9 (Minot) have announced plans to go off the air at the end of July.

“It is a very difficult economy that we live in, support and advertising has fallen to a level where Faith Broadcasting is no longer able to continue operating the stations,” station manager Roy Leavitt wrote in a note posted on the stations’ website and social media feeds.

KMOT-TV reports that the stations have six employees and quotes Leavitt as saying that they are seeking a buyer.

KHRT-FM “The Heart” carries a Contemporary Christian format while the AM station carries Southern Gospel.

The AM station first signed on in 1958, and the FM came on the air in 1992. KHRT-FM is 50kW/105m (class C2) while KHRT/1320 uses 2.5kW day and 310 Watts night, non-directional.

KHRT-FM offers the only local Christian radio format in Minot. The city is also served by Calvary Chapel Minot’s KFLK/88.1, which mainly carries national programming, as well as the regional “Real Presence Radio” network and Educational Media Foundation’s national “K-Love” and “Air1” networks.
