Wausau Station Flips Back to Rock as “The Beast”

Posted on July 25, 2024July 25, 2024 by Jon Ellis

After several years as “Jack FM,” a Midwest Communications station in the Wausau market has flipped back to a Rock format as “The Beast.”

The new format launched Thursday, July 25, on WOZZ/94.7 (Mosinee-Wausau) and W275AC/102.9 (Wausau). The Mainstream Rock playlist includes AC/DC, Five Finger Death Punch, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin, Linkin Park, Metallica, Nirvana, and Shinedown.

A news release announced that market veteran Terry Stevens will host afternoons.

WOZZ had previously been “Rock 94.7” until switching to “Jack FM” in 2021, playing Classic Hits from the 1980s to 2000s.

As “Jack FM,” WOZZ had competed with NRG Media’s “Big Cheese 107.9” (WBCV Wausau) and Muzzy Broadcasting’s WSPT/97.9 (Stevens Point).

As “The Beast,” WOZZ primarily competes with NRG Classic Rocker WGLX/103.3 (Wisconsin Rapids-Wausau).
