Prayz Network Signs On Another New Northern Wis. Station

Posted on August 17, 2024August 17, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Less than two months after signing on a new station serving the Merrill and Tomahawk areas, the Prayz Network has signed on another new signal reaching a different part of the Northwoods.

WEQC/103.9 (Crandon) uses 3.3kW/136m (class A). It is the Prayz Network’s sixth station and the first Christian radio station to provide a strong signal to Crandon, which receives a fringe signal from longtime Christian broadcaster WRVM/102.7 (Suring).

Sister Prayz WEQR/100.9 (Tomahawk) began broadcasting in June. Prayz’s parent organization, the Salvation Poem Foundation, also has construction permits for new FM stations in Melrose and Westfield, Wis., and Harmony, Minn.

The network carries a mix of Christian teaching and preaching programs and Contemporary Christian music, with music making up more of the schedule on weekends.

Efforts to sign on a radio station in Crandon date back decades. Commercial broadcasters were granted construction permits for a new station on 103.1 in 1995 and 2013, but neither was built.

The Salvation Poem Foundation won the allotment in a 2021 auction with a $58,000 bid. The construction permit was modified in 2022 to change the frequency to 103.9.
