Ashley Weil has joined Gray NBC affiliate WMTV/15.1 (Madison) as reporter and producer.
Alex Sapp has joined Hubbard ABC affiliate WDIO/10.1 (Duluth) as weekend anchor and reporter.
Anchor/reporter Kendall Jarboe and photojournalist Alex Laitala, who are married, announced their departure from Gray NBC/CBS affiliate KBJR/6 (Superior-Duluth) for a new opportunity at another Gray station. Sports anchor Alexis Beckett has also departed KBJR for a new opportunity.
Anchor Elias Johnson has departed Nexstar NBC affiliate WHO-DT/13.1 (Des Moines).
Sports anchor Kevin Holden recently announced that his time at Weigel CBS affiliate WDJT/58.1 (Milwaukee) is coming to an end.
TVNewsCheck reports that Jaclyn Clark has been promoted to station manager at Scripps NBC/Independent stations WGBA/26.1 (Green Bay) and WACY/32.1 (Appleton).
Rick Gevers’ Weekly Newsletter notes that Kevin Hodge has added news director duties at Lilly CBS affiliate WZMQ/19.2 (Marquette).
Free streaming service Pluto TV has added the local news livestreams from most FOX owned-and-operated stations, including KMSP/9 (Minneapolis), and TV Technology reports WITI/6 (Milwaukee) will be added later this month. The streams are also available through the FOX Local app and other services.
iHeartMedia’s “Cities 97.1” (KTCZ Minneapolis) has promoted Zach Dillon to mornings.
RadioInsight reports that Emery Songer, who currently hosts afternoons on iHeartMedia’s KFAB/1110 (Omaha), has added talk host duties in two Iowa markets. “Emery on Iowa” airs from 9 to 11 a.m. on WHO/1040 (Des Moines) and WMT/600 (Cedar Rapids).
The Newton News reports that Alpha Media’s “Energy 106.7” (KRTI Grinnell) has launched a new morning show featuring Sarah Jorges and Joe Swanson. The article notes that Swanson had been let go in Alpha’s recent nationwide job cuts but was brought back for the new show.
Nebraska Public Media has named Stacey Decker (right) as its next general manager and chief executive officer. Decker previously worked for the organization from 2007 to 2013 and currently works at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He take over leadership of the statewide radio and TV networks on Oct. 14.
Current’s 2024 Rising Stars of public media include Jojo Lorenzo of Twin Cities PBS, Ian Vosburg of Nebraska Public Media, and Marisa Wojcik of PBS Wisconsin.
WVIK (Rock Island) announced the death of former general manager Jay Pearce at 69 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Pearce worked at several public radio stations before joining WVIK and also served on NPR’s board of directors until his retirement in 2022.
KYMN (Northfield) announced the death of former station owner and on-air host Wayne Eddy. He worked at several radio and TV stations before becoming the first voice heard on the station in 1968. Eddy sold the station in 2002 but continued to host a show on the station for nearly 15 more years. He was 83.
WWIS (Black River Falls) announced the death of former general manager and on-air host Nelson Andrew Lent. He worked at several northern Wisconsin radio stations before a 42-year career at WWIS. Lent was 84.
Audacy’s WCCO/830 (Minneapolis) is marking its 100th anniversary with a double album benefitting several charities as well as a centennial celebration on Oct. 21 at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.
