After 11 days of Christmas music, a group of radio stations in the far northern Twin Cities metro area has reverted to its previous format.
The broad Oldies format known as “The Big Q” returned at midnight New Year’s Day. The format runs on:
- WLKX/95.9 (Forest Lake)
- WQPM/1300 (Princeton)
- W298CE/107.5, which is licensed to Big Lake and transmits from Princeton
- KLCI-HD3 (Elk River)
- KDDG-HD3 (Albany)
The stations had switched over to a Rock-based Classic Hits format as “Killer Bee” in September 2018. (The transition was gradual with some stations carrying “Big Q” longer than others.) “Killer Bee” came to an end by Dec. 21.
“The Big Q” had continued as an online stream.
The stations are co-owned with the Country “Bob FM” network heard on KLCI, KDDG, and KBGY/107.5 (Faribault).
