Weekly Log: Longtime S.D. Anchor to Retire; New Omaha Newscast

Posted on October 17, 2025October 16, 2025 by Jon Ellis

The Alaska Department of Public Safety reports that searchers have recovered the remains of Minnesota radio station owner J. David Linder, 39, who died in an avalanche while skiing in March. Linder’s remains were recovered Oct. 3 and identified Oct. 13.

Sinclair FOX affiliate KPTM/42 (Omaha) has begun airing an 11 p.m. newscast produced by sister station NTV (KHGI/13 Kearney). The addition comes a few years after KPTM and several other Sinclair stations nationwide dropped local news.

Nexstar CBS affiliate KELO-TV/11 (Sioux Falls) announced that longtime anchor Don Jorgensen will retire at the end of November. Jorgensen got his start in radio, working at stations in Winner and Sioux Falls before joining KELO-TV in 1990. He was morning anchor before moving to middays and then evenings.

Hearst ABC affiliate WISN-TV/12 (Milwaukee) announced the hiring of Rheya Spigner as the new 4 and 5 p.m. co-anchor. She will also do liveshots for the 10 p.m. newscast. Spigner previously anchored and reported for Hearst CBS affiliate KCCI/8 (Des Moines).

Matthew Glanzmann announced that he is joining Nexstar NBC affiliate WHO-DT/13 (Des Moines) as weekend morning meteorologist.

A viewer reports that K33QA-D (Davenport) is on the air using virtual channel 16, representing its former analog channel number. Channels include Newsmax 2, Fun Roads TV, and The Walk TV.

The over-the-air Selective TV system in Alexandria, Minn., announced that its K17NW-D is now carrying five channels: Biz TV, AMG, Fun Roads TV, Main Street, and Right Now TV. The low-power TV station had previously relayed EWTN affiliate K14RB-D (St. Paul).
