Weekly Log: Longtime Minneapolis Meteorologist Retires

Posted on February 27, 2026February 26, 2026 by Jon Ellis

Meteorologist Belinda Jensen has announced plans to retire from Tegna NBC affiliate KARE/11 (Minneapolis). Jensen has been with KARE since 1993 and has been chief meteorologist since 2005. Her last newscast will be on May 2, but Jensen will occasionally contribute to the Saturday morning newscast starting this fall.

Jeriann Ritter, a meteorologist at Nexstar NBC affiliate WHO-DT/13 (Des Moines), has shared that she has been diagnosed with bulbar ALS. “Right now, I pray everyday that a miracle is going to happen. And, I keep thinking it could be something else. But if the doctors are right, I’m probably done telling you about the weather. But I still have a lot to say, and I’m trying to figure out what that new race or journey looks like,” Ritter said in an interview with a colleague.

Hearst ABC affiliate WISN-TV/12 (Milwaukee) has promoted Kendall Keys to weekend evening anchor. She will continue to report during the week.

Charlotte Deleste has joined Lanette Hansen for new morning show “A New Day” on Mid-West Management’s “Magic 98” (WMGN/98.1 Madison). Hansen has been with WMGN for more than two decades while Deleste is a longtime TV journalist.

PBS Wisconsin announced that all four of its channels are now available to stream on the PBS app. The Wisconsin Channel and Create have joined the main PBS Wisconsin feed and PBS Kids, which were already available.

Minnesota Public Radio’s station alerts page says KSJN/99.5 (Minneapolis) has been experiencing problems with its main transmitter site in Shoreview, meaning its HD Radio signal is off the air. The issue may be resolved by Friday, Feb. 27. Meanwhile, the page says KCCD/90.3 and KCCM/91.1 (Moorhead) are experiencing interruptions that result in silence for up to a minute.
