Weekly Log: Jobs Cut as TV Station Changes News Format

Posted on March 27, 2026March 26, 2026 by Jon Ellis

Sinclair CBS/FOX affiliate KGAN/2 (Cedar Rapids) has changed the format of its newscasts, resulting in job cuts to some on-air and off-air staff. At least some newscasts are now running in an anchorless format, already used by some other Sinclair stations, in which reporters introduce their own stories with a standup. News anchor Nicole Dantzler and sports anchor Owen Siebring are among those to publicly announce their departures.

Scripps NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV/4 (Milwaukee) announced the hiring of meteorologist Jacob Montesano, who will be seen weekend mornings. He previously worked at Morgan Murphy Media CBS affiliate WISC-TV/3 (Madison).

Anchor Ava Hedges has departed Nexstar ABC affiliate WQAD/8 (Moline-Quad Cities) for a new TV job in Ohio.

Meteorologist Peter Warner announced his departure from WQAD for a new TV job in California.

Wisconsin Public Media, which includes Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS Wisconsin, has promoted Jordan L. Siegler to executive director. Siegler has worked in several leadership roles for WPM since 2015.

Two Twin Cities radio personalities have won Gracie Awards: Falen Gotler of KDWB/101.3 won in the Host Non-Morning Drive (Personality) Large/Major Market category, while Holly Roberts of “myTalk 107.1” (KTMY) Producer – Talk category.
